Innovations Award for Woodlands Pre-school

Woodlands Pre-school has recently become a Somerset Centre for Innovation & Research. Recognition and affiliation for this award took place with a representative from Somerset Centre for Integrated Learning.
Tamara Dixon, Pre-school Deputy and Forest School Leader has worked extremely hard to enable the pre-school to gain this award. The recognition of the award comes through the pre-schools commitment to the professional development of staff and a creative approach to teaching and learning. As a centre for Innovation & Research it shows a strong emphasis on outcomes for children and young people

Forest School Activities

The children at Woodlands enjoy the activities that the Forest School curriculum offers and these include learning about their natural world and how to respect it, how to make simple things using tools, how to light fires and how to use them safely as well as just having fun. See our gallery and find out what the children do.

Annual General Meeting
This was held on 19th September and the Chair kate Marks along with Emma Amor Treasurer both resigned from the committee as their children have now left pre-school and gone to Ruishotn Primary school.
We would like to thank them for their contributions over the last few years.
A new Chair, Sevretary and treasurer were elected and 2 new members also joined. See our photo's on meet the staff page.
Inset Days
Our next inset day will be January 4th 2011
Willow and Wetlands Visits
These are now regular weekly visits and the children have a designated area to play and explore in. We provide transport with an additional charge of £1.00 a week. This will be added to individual bills from September 2011.
Fees Increase
From 31st October 2011 fees will increase to £3.40 per hour.
Annual Xmas Fayre
The xmas fayre which has become a very popular annual event is going to be hel on Thursday 17th November at the village hall. More details to follow.
