About Woodlands Pre-school
Woodlands Pre-school in Ruishton offers a high quality curriculum, allowing children to enter school with a positive outlook. Through play, the children are encouraged by our staff to explore ideas, feelings and relationships. This in turn develops self-esteem, commitment to learning and a belief that they can succeed. Along with meeting the educational requirements of Ofsted we encourage children to develop an understanding and concern for their environment and build a natural inquisitiveness towards nature and wildlife.
How the Pre-school is run
The Pre-school is run by a voluntary committee, predominately made up of parents of the children attending pre-school, and the Supervisor and staff are responsible for the day to day running of the group. An Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held each September and the current officers (Chair, Treasurer and Secretary) resign their post and new members are elected. Parents will be informed of the date of the AGM in good time so they may be able to attend. At each AGM the committee gives an account to the pre-school parents of the way it has been running the pre-school on their behalf during the year.
A parent/carer can be co-opted on to the committee at any time during the year. A list of committee members is available from the notice board inside the main door or from the Supervisor, with the main positions listed in this booklet. The pre-school committee are all police checked and take up references and police checks of all pre-school staff and volunteers. Any concerns or complaints should be addressed to any member of the committee. We are a member of OFSTED and the Pre-school Learning Alliance, a voluntary body that is registered as an educational charity. As a requirement of OFSTED the pre-school has a series of policies which are available to be read at the pre-school or if you wish to have a copy please make a request to the Supervisor.MAny of the policies are available online on this website by clicking here
